When you land in Curitiba, you have two options for getting yourself to the hotel (L'Avenue Apart Hotel, address is in contact sheet.):
1. Taxi - will probably cost around $30 USD. Most direct and fast - can share with classmates to make the price more affordable.
2. Take a bus downtown. This will be much cheaper than a taxi. I will try to find more details on this, but the closest stop to the hotel should be right around Santos Andrade Square. Another major landmark at this square is the Teatro Guaira. If the bus drops you off here, you will need to walk a few blocks to the hotel. The program in Brazil officially begins on Monday, March 26 and ends Friday, May 4.
Housing in Curitiba is arranged for exactly 6 weeks. You can check in on Saturday, March 24th and stay through Saturday, May 5th.
**If you arrive early or stay late, you may be able to stay in the same room at your own expense. Communicate this information with Megan so that she can coordinate with the hotel and make sure your room is available for any needed additional nights.
Tips:
~Use a search tool, such as Kayak, Priceline, or Travelocity to search for the best rates. Then, go directly to the airline's web site to buy tickets for who ever has the cheapest flights.
~The best rates are typically found mid-week. Plan on buying your tickets on a Tuesday or Wednesday, because prices go up on the weekends!
~Use the "discussion" tab on this page to share information and coordinate flights before you buy.
